Mr Taha Khan is a consultant vascular and endovascular surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust.
Taha completed his undergraduate medical training at Imperial College London in 2002. His interest in vascular surgery developed early in training and was exemplified by his higher research degree (MD - doctor of medicine) in Vascular Tissue Engineering. In 2016 he received his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons and upon finishing his training in the Southwest deanery, he succeeded in completing the advanced fellowship in Robotic Endovascular Surgery (St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College London, 2017) and the prestigious Deep Venous Surgery fellowship at Guy’s and St Thomas’ (2018).
He was appointed as a consultant vascular surgeon with the Manchester NHS Foundation Trust where he established the largest Deep Venous Surgery Service in Northern England and was:
- The deep venous surgery lead
- Lead for the venous thromboembolism service
In 2021, Taha was appointed as a consultant vascular and endovascular surgeon at St Thomas’ Hospital and joined the exceptional vascular surgery team at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust.
He has a keen interest in the management of patients with venous disease, and has a track record of implementing patient care pathways and treatment strategies to optimise the care delivered. He has represented the interests of patients with venous disease on local, regional
and national committees and panels.
Taha has also lectured extensively on the management of both arterial and venous (acute and chronic deep venous disease) surgery at both national and international forums.
He is active in venous research and venous education and has held faculty positions. His research has been published in high impact journals and he has taught on numerous vascular surgery courses worldwide.
