Choosing the right clinic for your varicose vein treatment doesn’t need to be complicated. We’ve compiled a summary of all the things you need to know to help you make the smart choice for your vein health.
The right package should reassure you that you’ll be cared for at every step of your journey. World-class treatment and excellence in care is the only standard you should settle for, and at UK Vein Clinic we’re proud to be the chosen provider for our amazing patients.
Below you’ll find a comparison between our comprehensive treatment package against those of other national providers.
This is an opportunity for a vascular scientist and vascular doctor to assess your vein health and map out the source of your vein disease. The quality of this assessment is directly related to the quality of outcome you can expect, ensuring that all the veins that need treating are treated and that none of the healthy ones are treated in error. At UK Vein Clinic we only use the highest standard of vascular scientist accredited to The College and Society for Clinical Vascular Science and in accordance with guidance from the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (“NICE”) and the European Society of Vascular Surgery. Things you should always ask:
Depending on the results of your duplex ultrasound scan, you’ll be recommended a treatment plan. The gold standard, NICE recommended treatment for this is either radiofrequency ablation (RFA) or foam sclerotherapy (in most cases a combination of both!). Things you should consider when choosing a provider include:
Excellent care shouldn’t end after your treatment appointment; a dedicated team should be available to support you at all stages of your journey. We encourage patients to ask the following questions:
Best practice is to review your veins post-treatment to confirm successful closure. Your follow up appointment is a chance to re-scan your legs and provide additional treatment if required.
Independent studies show that for a small percentage of varicose vein patients, the treatment may not fully close diseased veins. But this risk shouldn’t be left on you. That’s why an RFA treatment guarantee is an important part of treatment, to give you peace of mind. If you’re concerned about the treatment being unsuccessful, be sure to ask the following:
For the treatment of varicose veins around 75% of patients require Endothermal Ablation to treat the deeper veins (truncal veins). Laser and radiofrequency ablation are both examples of Endovenous treatment options used for removing these truncal veins. Almost all patients also require Foam Sclerotherapy to treat the more superficial veins that can be seen under the surface of the skin.
At UK Vein Clinic, we use radiofrequency ablation and foam sclerotherapy as part of our primary treatment package, as the gold-standard first line treatment, recommended by NICE. This combination of treatments, performed by highly skilled surgeons, specifically trained to do these procedures is how UK Vein Clinic achieves the world-class results our patients deserve.
